God that was windy.... Harry took one look at the water and decided that he
was going to sit this one out. Wise choice I think. I changed into my dry
suit and rigged up. I had to wait until the rescue boats were out on the
water before I could launch, so just sat in the car for 10 mins. This was
going to be a tough sail with no crew, the wind was beginning to increase
in strength. So went insearch of someone that could crew. I found someone
and off we went.
Pulled the main sheet in and let the jib out, and off we went. Completly
over powered over we went... It didn't take long to right and get going
again, so with a little less confidence, I didn't pull the main sheet in so
much and controlled the boat much better. We didn't stay out too long as
the wind was a too strong but it was a good test for the boat and crew.
I don't think that my crew helped that much. I think that I may ahve done
better on my own. It would have been good to get out on the trapeze and get
some more speed from the boat. As you see 11.2kn from 26kn wind isn't
great.
All boats out on the water were quiting and de-rigging, racing was also
cancelled.
There were a few boards on the water, these were going well, some getting
some nice little chop hops in, which really impressed Harry. He now wants
to have a go on a board.
